Education

Ms. Purifoy graduated from of the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish.  She is also a graduate of the University of Phoenix, where she earned her Masters of Arts in Education.  Ms. Purifoy has also studied abroad at the University of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico.  In an effort to further refine her craft, she has also traveled to Puerto Rico to do research.



Experience

Ms. Purifoy has taught for over 10 years in the Birmingham and Bessemer school systems and for four years in the Quitman County School District.  She brings a wealth of knowledge regarding the Spanish language and culture, as well as over 10 years of teaching experience to the Quitman County community.  



Bio

Ms. Purifoy is a native and product of the Eufaula City School system.  After graduating as an honor graduate from Eufaula High School, she enrolled at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where she studied Spanish.  While there, she became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., where she has initiated, organized and participated in multiple community service and civic projects and programs.  Ms. Purifoy has also studied abroad at La Universidad de Guadalajara (University of Guadalajara) in Jalisco, Mexico.  After graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish, she work for a year as an interpreter and bilingual receptionist at the law firm of Costello, Parrish and Theus, LLC. The following year, she began her teaching career in the Birmingham City School System.  She has earned her Masters of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix.  Ms. Purifoy has also taught at the Virginia College, where she not only taught Spanish but Writing and Composition and Intro to College.  Ms. Purifoy is a mom of two beautiful children and cares for them and her aging father.
